Tel Kadayıf (Shredded Dough Baked in Syrup)INGREDIENTS

  • 500 g kadayıf
  • 500 g sugar
  • 125 g margarine
  • 150 g grounded walnut ((pistachio or nut can be possible.)
  • 1 lemon


Divide the kadayıfs into two. Crumble one half with your hand and put them on greased tray. Pour melted margarine on them. Make sure the margarine is spread everywhere by the help of your hand. Sprinkle the grounded walnut and spread them on the whole surface. Then, place the other half on the first half. Make sure that everywhere has the same thickness by pressing slightly with your hand. Cook over a medium heat in oven until both the top and bottom surfaces turns to Brown (average 20 minutes). Just after you get them out of the oven, pour hot milk on them. Then cover with a pan lid.  

In order to prepare the sorbe, put lemon juice, sugar and water which are enough to cover the others. Boil them until they have syrup texture. During boiling, you should mix in order to dissolve the sugar. Pour the hot syrup on hot kadayıfs. After it becomes cold, you can serve by slicing.
